The right starting point

Zoom in-chair or custom take-home whitening?

Understand the choices.
Make an informed decision.

01

In-chair Philips Zoom

Whitening at the practice with gum protection and monitoring. Allow around 90 minutes, depending on assessment and protocol.

02

Custom take-home

Custom trays and dentist-directed gel offer a more gradual approach. Follow the instructions and review plan supplied for your teeth.

Whiter natural teeth. Not whiter restorations.

Visible fillings, crowns and veneers do not lighten in the same way as natural teeth. Different stains also respond differently. We examine your teeth and gums, discuss existing dental work and explain what whitening can realistically change.

Understand your options

Choose around your teeth, not a shade chart.

A useful comparison considers pace, sensitivity and existing restorations. If you are comparing products first, read about whitening toothpaste and professional whitening.

01

In the practice

A monitored in-chair appointment. Existing EasyCare guidance is around 90 minutes depending on assessment and protocol.

02

At your pace

Custom trays with dentist-directed gel and instructions. Gradual use requires following the prescribed routine.

03

Before either option

Check sensitivity, restorations and dental health. Neither method promises an exact shade or permanent result.

What happens next

Assess, whiten, review.

Reception at EasyCare Family Dental

Check and choose

Assess teeth, gums, starting shade and existing restorations. Discuss sensitivity, upcoming events and whether other care should come first.

Whiten with guidance

Choose in-chair treatment or use your custom trays with the prescribed instructions. Tell us about discomfort rather than increasing use yourself.

Review and maintain

Review the response and ongoing care. Discuss future maintenance individually rather than expecting a permanent or uniform colour change.

Before you book

Before you whiten.

Practical details to help you choose your next step.

Is whitening the same as a scale and clean?

No. Cleaning removes deposits and some surface stains; whitening changes the colour of natural teeth. A check-up or cleaning may be needed first, but the services have different purposes.

Can whitening make my teeth sensitive?

Temporary sensitivity is possible. Tell us about sensitivity before starting. We explain the appropriate protocol and what to do if discomfort develops; do not simply use more gel or increase treatment time.

Will crowns, veneers and fillings change colour?

No, not like natural teeth. Visible restorations may no longer match a lighter shade. We discuss shade matching and any implications before you commit.

How soon before an event should I book?

Discuss the date early. Assessment, any care needed first and the chosen method all affect timing. We do not guarantee a particular shade by an event date.

Is the result permanent?

No. Colour can change over time and the response varies between teeth and people. Cleaning, habits and any dentist-advised maintenance affect the ongoing appearance.

What if whitening will not achieve the change I want?

If shape, chips, alignment or the nature of a stain is the main issue, we can discuss other options. Whitening is not a substitute for treating decay or gum problems.
