Why patients choose our dental crowns
Digital precision - Trios scan
We plan every crown with a Trios intraoral scan for accurate fit and margins. No messy moulds, faster lab communication and comfortable results.
Made in Brisbane - 7 to 10 days
Your crown is designed and fabricated by trusted Brisbane technicians. Typical turnaround is 7 to 10 days with consistent shade and finish.
Material matched to your tooth
Zirconia for strength and back teeth, e.max porcelain for high front-tooth aesthetics, and gold selectively for heavy bite cases.
Dental crown FAQs
Do you offer same day crowns?
Not currently. We use Brisbane partner labs for accuracy and shade matching. Turnaround is usually 7 to 10 days; a comfortable temporary crown is provided meanwhile.
How long will my crown last?
With good home care and regular reviews, crowns typically last 10 to 15 years or longer.
Will my crown look natural?
Yes. We shade-match and contour. We favour e.max porcelain for front teeth (aesthetics) and zirconia for back teeth (strength).
Does treatment hurt?
No. We use local anaesthetic and gentle techniques. Mild sensitivity afterwards is common and settles quickly.
Do I need a crown after root canal?
Often yes for molars/premolars to prevent fractures. Read more on our root canal page.
What if my crown comes loose?
Keep it safe and call us. We can often re-cement it; if damaged, we’ll discuss replacement options.

Is a crown the best choice for me
We will compare crowns with veneers for front teeth and fillings for small repairs. For painful cracks, visit our emergency dentist page.
Material and case complexity affect the fee. We always discuss options and costs before treatment.
Crowns vs veneers vs fillings
Crown
- Best for: cracked, root canal or heavily filled teeth
- Durability: high - 10 to 15 years+
- Aesthetics: excellent (zirconia/e.max match)
Veneer
- Best for: cosmetic shape/colour of front teeth
- Durability: medium to high
- Aesthetics: excellent (natural translucency)
Filling
- Best for: small to medium cavities or chips
- Durability: medium (varies with size/bite)
- Aesthetics: good to very good
*Fees vary by tooth and complexity. We’ll confirm after examination. For cosmetic changes, see our veneers page. For urgent cracked tooth pain, see our emergency dentist page.

Aftercare and longevity
Follow these steps for a comfortable recovery and a crown that lasts.
First 24 hours
- Choose soft foods like yogurt, pasta, rice, eggs
- Avoid very hot drinks until any sensitivity settles
- Do not chew hard items like ice, pens or nutshells
- If you had a temporary crown earlier, avoid sticky foods on that side
Cleaning and gum care
- Brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste around the crown margins
- Floss gently each day, curving the floss around the tooth
- If the gum is tender, warm saltwater rinses can help
Sensitivity and bite check
- Mild temperature sensitivity is common for a few days
- Use a sensitive toothpaste if needed
- If the bite feels high or the tooth feels proud when closing, call us for a quick adjustment
Grinding or clenching
- If you clench or grind at night, ask us about a custom night guard
- Night guards reduce wear and protect crowns and natural teeth
When to contact us
- Persistent pain beyond a few days or increasing sensitivity
- Loose crown or edge catching your tongue or floss
- Chip, crack or dark line appearing at the margin
How long crowns last
- Typical lifespan is 10 to 15 years with good care
- Regular reviews help prevent decay under the tooth
- Good hygiene and a balanced bite are the biggest factors
